I for one, and glad for the return of the ridiculous bed.

The world is probably ready for this now. Hopefully they’re smart enough to offer 4wd this time.

Nice shop, but seriously, it would not be worse than that Cadillac nonsense.

I wonder what they’re gonna call it this time? probably not Blackwood or Mark LT again

Honestly it probably would do well in today’s luxury truck-obsessed market. The Blackwood was way too ahead of its time, that’s why it didn’t do so well.

That (presumably fake) chrome trim on the truck makes it look like an elderly driver accidentally backed it straight into the local Pep Boys tacky accessories aisle.

I’m assuming that rather than a gussied up F-150, this is a pickup-i-fied Navigator kinda like the Chevy Avalanche/Escalade EXT were pickup-i-fied Suburban/Escalade.

I think a large part of the reason it did not do well is that it was only marginally nicer, yet less functional than the Ford-equivalent King Ranch SuperCrew 2WD, while costing over $20,000 more (MSRP of $52,500 for the Lincoln vs. $31,620 for the Ford.)
Beyond that, saying it “didn’t do so well” is a pretty substantial understatement. Lincoln planned on selling 9,000/year for 2002 and 2003. They actually only sold a little over 3,000 total in 2002 (it was killed off before the 2003MY was released). For comparison, Cadillac managed to sell off over 13,000 Escalade EXT’s in 2002.
